SENTRI: Jurnal Riset Ilmiah
1. Purpose
SENTRI: Jurnal Riset Ilmiah (E-ISSN: 2963-1130), published monthly by LPPM Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Dr. Sumardiana, M.Pd., is thoroughly committed to safeguarding the veracity, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal acknowledges that honest errors, technical inaccuracies, or ethical infractions may occasionally come to light subsequent to official publication. This policy articulates the formalized procedures for issuing corrections (errata and corrigenda), publishing editorial expressions of concern, and executing retractions whenever warranted. All corrective determinations are administered impartially, proportionately, and in strict concordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) core practices and international scholarly publishing benchmarks.
2. Corrections
A formal correction is warranted when an honest error or inadvertent omission is verified in a published manuscript, requiring transparent notification to the scientific community without undermining or invalidating the primary empirical findings, pedagogical interpretations, or core conclusions of the paper. Corrections may address inadvertent errors in author names, structural affiliations, or publication metadata; typographical, computational, or mathematical inaccuracies that risk misleading readers; minor flaws in statistical tables, figures, formulae, or bibliographies; as well as omissions in funding acknowledgments or competing interest statements. The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the materiality of the reported defect, consults the original authors to verify documentation, and issues an Erratum (publisher-side error) or Corrigendum (author-side error). The correction notice is assigned an independent Crossref DOI (https://doi.org/10.55681/sentri) and linked bidirectional to the original article landing page; negligible typographical typos that do not influence scholarly meaning do not warrant formal correction notices.
3. Retraction
Retraction serves as a definitive mechanism to alert the academic community and purge compromised literature when the scientific veracity, empirical validity, or ethical integrity of a published article is fundamentally undermined. Legitimate grounds for retraction include clear evidence that findings are unreliable due to fraudulent data fabrication, falsification, or gross methodological/computational failure; severe or systematic plagiarism; duplicate or redundant publication without prior editorial authorization; substantial ethical violations regarding research subjects or missing institutional permissions; fraudulent manipulation of empirical figures or the peer-review process; and dishonest authorship schemes that corrupt academic accountability. Retraction is never employed to resolve petty authorship disputes, personal disagreements, or subjective theoretical debates where the empirical core of the published work remains valid and dependable.
4. Retraction Procedure
Whenever potential grounds for retraction emerge, the journal executes a rigorous, documented due process adhering to COPE flowcharts:
Initial Evaluation: The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editorial board member appraises the initial evidence to determine whether formal proceedings are required.
Author Communication: The corresponding author is formally notified in writing and given a defined period (typically 14 to 21 calendar days) to present raw datasets, laboratory registries, and institutional responses.
Independent Investigation: The editorial office may solicit evaluations from independent disciplinary specialists, institutional ethics boards, or external advisory panels.
Editorial Adjudication: Upon weighing all empirical evidence and author rejoinders, the Editor-in-Chief renders a binding determination regarding the issuance of a correction, expression of concern, or formal retraction.
Notice Dissemination: Upon a retraction decision, a formal Retraction Notice is published detailing the empirical rationale, specifying whether the retraction is enacted with author concurrence or by editorial directive.
Archival Preservation: In adherence to digital preservation ethics, the retracted article is never silently deleted from the server; the original PDF is retained within the digital archive prominently watermarked with "RETRACTED" across every page, permanently cross-referenced with the Retraction Notice, and preserved across PKP PN, LOCKSS, and CLOCKSS.
5. Expression of Concern
An Expression of Concern represents a formal interim notice published by the Editor-in-Chief when well-founded, credible concerns regarding the validity or integrity of an article are established, but definitive evidence is pending completion of an ongoing institutional investigation, or where authors fail to cooperate with necessary inquiries. The notice transparently informs readers of the potential risks of relying on the findings without prejudging the final outcome of the inquiry. The editorial team monitors the case actively, subsequently lifting the notice, issuing an amendment, or executing a definitive retraction upon concluding the investigation.
6. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors publishing in SENTRI bear a continuous professional duty to notify the editorial office immediately if they uncover significant errors, flawed calculations, or corrupted datasets in their published work. Authors must actively cooperate with editorial inquiries, supply requested raw statistical matrices, and collaborate with copyeditors to draft accurate, transparent correction texts. If a retraction becomes unavoidable, authors are invited to supply a formal statement, though an author's refusal to concede or failure to respond will not prevent the editorial board from retracting a verifiably compromised paper.
7. Responsibilities of the Editorial Team
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board hold full authority and responsibility for managing correction and retraction cases objectively, confidentially, and free from external influence, commercial pressures, or institutional bias. All determinations are grounded strictly on verifiable documentation and standard ethical protocols. The editorial team seeks independent expert testimony when complex empirical or legal issues arise, ensuring that no accusatory claims of misconduct are leveled without an indisputable evidentiary foundation, while working cooperatively with academic research institutions when necessary.
8. Accessibility and Transparency
All correction notices, expressions of concern, and retraction announcements published by SENTRI are made permanently accessible under open-access terms without paywalls. Each notice is formally indexed, assigned a persistent Crossref DOI, and clearly linked to the parent publication within the OJS architecture. The editorial office guarantees that historical publishing records remain unalterable, ensuring that no registered Version of Record is altered or expunged without formal, publicly documented editorial notices.
9. Appeals Mechanism
Authors seeking to contest an editorial retraction or correction decision may submit a reasoned, formal written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief within 30 calendar days of the formal ruling. The appeal must present substantial new evidence, verified raw computational archives, or verifiable proof of procedural irregularities during the inquiry; appeals grounded merely on disagreement with the editorial interpretation will be summarily dismissed. All qualified appeals are evaluated by an ad-hoc review committee composed of independent scholars who had no involvement in the initial determination.
10. Final Statement
SENTRI: Jurnal Riset Ilmiah remains dedicated to protecting the sanctity of the scientific record across educational sciences and interdisciplinary research. Through proactive, transparent, and fair correction and retraction mechanisms, the journal maintains the scholarly reliability of its literature, reinforcing mutual trust among authors, peer reviewers, institutional stakeholders, and the broader global academic community.
