Abstract

Bullying remains a common problem in schools, with verbal bullying being the most frequent form due to its tendency to be perceived as harmless joking among peers. Repeated behaviors such as teasing, mocking, insulting, and using offensive nicknames can cause significant psychological harm, highlighting the need for effective guidance and counseling interventions. This study aimed to describe verbal bullying behavior among students at SMA Negeri 1 Jekulo Kudus and examine the implementation of group counseling using problem-solving techniques to reduce such behavior. The counseling program was conducted in four stages: formation, transition, core activities, and termination. During the sessions, students learned to identify problems, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and apply appropriate responses. The findings showed positive behavioral changes after the intervention, including increased awareness of the impact of verbal bullying, improved emotional regulation, greater empathy, and reduced teasing and offensive language. These results indicate that group counseling with problem-solving techniques is effective in reducing verbal bullying and promoting respectful communication among students.
