Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing volume of textile waste generated from household activities, garment businesses, and fashion design practices. If not properly managed, this waste can lead to environmental pollution due to its non-biodegradable nature. The purpose of this study is to examine the potential of repurposing old fabric into recycled products that hold both economic value and environmental benefits. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and observation of practices in processing fabric scraps into craft products. The data were analyzed descriptively to illustrate the process, types of products, and the resulting economic and environmental benefits. The findings show that old fabric can be transformed into various products such as bags, accessories, patchwork items, and household decorations using techniques like zero waste, mosaic stitching, and mixed media. This processing has proven effective in reducing textile waste accumulation, creating opportunities for creative businesses, and increasing the income of MSME entrepreneurs. The study concludes that the utilization of old fabric is a relevant strategy to support a circular economy based on sustainable fashion.
