Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Smart Box Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Pada Mata Pembelajaran IPAS Materi Transformasi Energi Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fourth-grade elementary school students in IPAS, especially on the topic of energy transformation. One effort that can be made to overcome this problem is by using concrete and interactive learning media, namely Smart Box. This study aimed to determine the effect of Smart Box learning media on students’ learning outcomes in IPAS on energy transformation material. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 63 fourth-grade students of SDN Pegangsaan Dua 03, consisting of 31 students in class IV-B as the experimental class and 32 students in class IV-A as the control class. Data were collected using a multiple-choice learning outcomes test and analyzed through normality, homogeneity, and Independent Samples t-test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 79.52, while the control class obtained an average score of 60.16. The normality test results showed significance values of 0.147 in the experimental class and 0.276 in the control class, indicating that both datasets were normally distributed. The homogeneity test produced a significance value of 0.468, indicating homogeneous variance. Furthermore, the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which means that Smart Box learning media had a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes. Thus, Smart Box can be used as an alternative learning media to improve students’ learning outcomes in IPAS learning at the elementary school level.
