Analisis Semiotika terhadap Representasi Nasionalisme dalam Chant “Garuda di Dadaku” Suporter Timnas Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the representation of nationalism in the Garuda di Dadaku chant, originally popularized through the song by Netral/NTRL and subsequently transformed into a stadium chant performed by supporters of the Indonesian National Football Team. This transformation illustrates how popular music can become an institutionalized collective chant that reproduces national identity and strengthens collective belonging. The chant functions not only as a form of support for the national team but also as a medium of symbolic communication representing national pride, solidarity, loyalty, and nationalism. This research employed a qualitative approach using Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, focusing on denotation, connotation, and myth. The primary data consisted of the chant lyrics and video documentation of its performance, while secondary data were obtained from relevant literature and previous studies. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative approach. The findings reveal three main forms of nationalism: national identity represented by the Garuda as the national emblem, national pride expressed through admiration for Indonesia, and optimism and loyalty toward the national team through confidence in victory. At the myth level, the Garuda symbol has evolved from a popular cultural element into a widely accepted representation of Indonesian collective identity. Thus, the transformation of the Netral/NTRL song into a stadium chant demonstrates how popular music can reproduce nationalism through collective performance, strengthening social solidarity and national identity among supporters.
