Abstract

The purpose of study is to find out the application of Ice Breaking in increasing the learning motivation of students in the natural science subject of class VII MTs Nurul Yaqin NW Bual. This research is a Class Action Research (PTK) consisting of 2 cycles, where the actions of each cycle start from planning, action, observation and reflection. The subject of this study is a grade VII student of MTs Nurul Yaqin Bual with a total of 29 students consisting of 21 male students and 8 female students. Data collection techniques using observation, written tests and documentation. The results of the study showed that the average value of student motivation or learning outcomes was 68.4 in the first cycle, this indicates that student learning motivation is still low. In cycle II, the average score of student motivation or learning outcomes, which was 92.7, increased. In the first cycle, the results of student learning activity observation were 50.86, this shows that student activity is still low.In cycle II the student learning activity reached 91.0 with the good category. It can be concluded that in science learning, there is an increase in learning motivation in grade VII students of MTs Nurul Yaqin Bual through the use of Ice Breaking.
