Abstract

This research aims to explore the relationship between online gaming addiction and mental health, quality of life, psychosocial well-being, and the spiritual dynamics of individuals in maintaining worship consistency in the digital era. It also examines psychological factors that act as mediators and moderators in the development of online gaming addiction while identifying theoretical approaches and intervention strategies reported in recent studies. A qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA guidelines was conducted. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database using keywords related to online gaming addiction, digital spirituality, religiosity among online gamers, and psychological well-being. The selection process resulted in 16 articles that met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that online gaming addiction is significantly associated with increased psychological distress, loneliness, depression, reduced quality of life, impaired social relationships, and decreased consistency in worship. Psychological factors, including self-control, gratitude, emotional schema, meaning in life, responsibility, and school belongingness, were found to either exacerbate or mitigate the risk of gaming addiction. The novelty of this study lies in providing a comprehensive literature synthesis that integrates the relationships between online gaming addiction, mental health, quality of life, psychosocial well-being, and spiritual dynamics, particularly worship consistency in the digital era, while systematically identifying psychological factors that function as mediators and moderators in the development of gaming addiction. These findings demonstrate that online gaming addiction is a multidimensional phenomenon requiring integrated psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual perspectives to support the development of more comprehensive prevention and intervention strategies.
