This study investigates the relationship between students’ physical activities outside the classroom and their engagement during lessons in Grade IV at SDN Mluweh 01, Ungaran Timur District, Semarang Regency. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected through a physical activity questionnaire adapted from the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children (PAQ-C) and classroom observation sheets. The sample was determined using Slovin’s formula with a 5% margin of error, ensuring representativeness. he results of the Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between physical activity and classroom engagement (r = 0.612; p = 0.000). This finding indicates that students with higher physical activity scores tend to demonstrate greater activeness in class, including participation in discussions, responsiveness to teachers’ questions, and enthusiasm during lessons. The study concludes that physical activity functions as a mechanism for regulating energy and emotions, thereby preparing students to actively engage in learning. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of providing sufficient opportunities for physical activity in elementary schools, such as traditional games, light exercise, and extracurricular activities, as effective strategies to enhance classroom engagement and support holistic educational goals.
